A BRETTON WOODS ADVOCATE
Sir,—Mr Avra Warren is a strong advocate for Bretton Woods according to (P.A.) Hastings Wednesday, 3rd September. Therefore when he speaks of Bretton Woods he keeps studiously from mentioning the gold measure for International trade. I would liken the Bretton Woods Pact to a game of two-up, Wall Street holding the double header (the gold bloc) gets away with the swag, leaving all Nations the poorer who subscribe to it and the International Funds. The people of Britain were forced to accept this position under duress. But why should we contribute to Britain’s troubles by signing away our economic freedom. Hence my reply! Mr Warren has been asked if Bretton Woods’ was another “Yankee trick”? I should say No. It is a Wall Street scheme to subjugate the Yank the same as other nationalities by economic pressure and the machine gun. Also if the International Monetary Control was to be vested in Wall Street is already an International vested trust, and Bretton Woods scheme is to give it full international dictatorship, with a military backing. He asks us to think out what this project means to the world, in the terms of currency and banking. A futile question, as applied to the monopoly of the credit of production, distribution and exchange. (Note, this is also the Socialist scheme). Mr Warren says: Bretton Woods is a practical proposition; it would get the world, back, not to where it was, but into a sound trade position! Yes, back to 1930-31. However he won’t have long to wait, the writing is on the wall (Wall Street) already. So if Bretton Woods is signed it will be the second coming of spoils to the international banker, after fighting two wars for freedom, we have to fight for the peace. Yours etc., W. BRADSHAW. ”
