MEETING AT AWAKERI The monthly meeting of the Awakeri branch of the Women’s Division was held in the Awakeri Hall on August 18, Mrs Haultain presiding over a good attendance in spite of the boisterous weather. Mrs Thompson’s resignation was received with regret, and members wished her every success in her new position in the Waveriey School. Members were interested to learn that efforts are being made tc incorporate the Country Library Service with the existing Library m Whakatane.

We hope to send a “Parcel for Britain” every month and members will take turns in bringing suitable gifts for dispatch to a different recipient each month.

Arrangements were made for the Spring Flower Display next month which is to be an Open Day to raise funds for the branch.

After afternoon tea a play reading “Get Out of Your Cage” was greatly appreciated by members. Competition winners were as follows: Marmalade, Mrs Brizzle 1; Mrs Wilson 2; Mrs Hoyland 3.
