RUGBY FOOTBALL

PILE MEMORIAL CUP PAROA RETAINS TROPHY Paroa outclassed PaengaroaPukehina Seniors last, Saturday in a further challenge game for the Pile Memorial Cup. The game which was played under ideal conditions resulted in a twelve point victory for the holders in a match which was interesting and more evenly contested than the points would indicate.

The visitbrs were unfortunate on at least two occasions and seemed to lack a knowledge of team work and combination. Their light aggressive pack failed to disturb the heavier Paroa scrum.

Outstanding on the field was Spratt the visiting fullback who was always safe and whose line kicks were a pleasure to watch. His counterpart Laurie on Paroa’s side, also played an outstanding game.

At Waimana United Senior and Junior teams scored a win apiece against the local fifteens. Both matches were hard arid fast and produced good football.
