EDGECUMBE FIRE BRIGADE

PLEASANT SOCIAL EVENING The Rangitaiki Plains Dairy Coy. Volunteer Fire Brigade held a very successful evening on Tuesday last at Edgecumbe in the form of a party for the wives and children of the firemen. A pleasing feature of the evening was that the preparation of the supper and tables and also the waiting on of the guests was all done by the firemen. This- arrangement was greatly appreciated by the ladies. The children, who were also under the control of members of the Fire Brigade, were well catered for at a separate table. At the conclusion of which, Superintendent J. Russell, on behalf of the Fire Brigade, presented each child with a present. A demonstration of a six man squad drill was greatly appreciated by the guests and a two man run by Deputy-Superintendent Fred Villis and Fireman G. Hamilton and also Foreman T. Roberts and Fireman T. Eagleson created a novel entertainment during the evening. Another popular and exciting event was a ride on the fire engine for the children.

Before the evening closed, -Mr J. Russell and Mrs Frost on 'behalf of the guests, expressed their appreciation of the guests for a very pleasant evening.
