Woman Jurors Not Wanted
The second woman juror to be summoned for service in the Supreme Court at New Plymouth was called when a jury was being empanelled for the hearing of a case alleging indecent asault on a young girl. When the juror was called she was stood down by the Crown Prosecutor. She was called again in the next case, which was of negligent, driving, causing the deaths of two persons, and on this occasion she was challenged by counsel for the accused.
