“OLD BILL”
Old Bill was a droll old soul, He would dolefully declare, “My old bald pates like heaven— There is no parting there!” William was left-handed, And oft would say with pride; “It really is my right hand, Fixed on the other side, But I have trained my right hand, To so emulate my left, That most folks wish their left hands Were only half as deft!” Old Bill was a gentle soul, As harmless as a dove, Yet he entertained for some folks, Quite the reverse to love, “Hitler” Bill’s been heard to say, “If I could only have my way, I’d make the blighter kneel and pray. God preserve me from that man, killing me with dread, Before he has his way with me, Please God let me be dead.” Old Bill never lived to see, How Hitler met his end, But those who knew Old William best, Admit they’ve lost a friend.
