“New Zealand women probably use from 150 to 200 tons of cream, 200 tons of face powder, three tons of rouge, and two or three tons of lipstick every year,” said Mr Arnold Steele, an Auckland cosmetic manufacturer, in an address to the Auckland Rotary Club. No exact figures for the Dominion were available, he added. In the United States the annual turnover in the cosmetic industry was 1000 million dollars.
