WHAT OF A WAR MEMORIAL?
NOW that the intensive R.S.A. campaign to establish a welfare fund is over, the time is opportune for resurrecting the subject of a suitable War Memorial for -the town and district. This subject was dropped in the latter part of last year when the Queen Carnival was first mooted. It should not be permitted to drift by much more for the longer we delay the less the war and the vast sacrifices made by so many of our dearest and best, are remembered. We know that the ideas behind the suggested form of memorial are many and diverse, but at the same time this feature should not be permitted to blind our sense of responsibility in making some communal effort to mark the memory of those of our young manhood who gave their all in the cause of freedom.
