The Bulandshar—Expense horse, Expanse, has been retired from the turf.. Included in his victories during his racing career are the Tamahere Stakes, A.R.C. Royal Stakes, G.N. Derby, G.N. St. Leger, Avondale Members Handicap and Auckland Cup.
Good Stakes Winners Head of the list last season as a stakes winner is Golden Souvenir with £10,545, Master Dash being next with £5785, and Langue D’Or £4905. The best three year old of the season was Bruce with £4245, Balgowan £4OO being second on the list. The Grand National Winner
Early in the winter there were several inquiries for the Matamata owned Dumbo. When it was learned that his price was 1000 guineas and would-be buyers cooled off. Some one missed a bargain for in about a month he has won three steeplechases including the Grand National. A Rig Total
Horses trained last season by G. Cobb, Matamata, won £9732 in stakes, among the principal winners being his own candidate Dumbo £3580 and Hiranji £BOS. Already this season Dumbo has won £2IOO. A Nizami Winner
Among the winners at the Anniversary Day Meeting, Randwick, was the Cambridge bred filly, Duotebra. At the 1945 National Sale he realised 950 guineas, being purchased for Mr F. W. Hughes, Sydney.
