BOROUGH TIP
FURTHER CRITICISM PROTECTIVE MEASURES ADOPTED “I fully realise the difficulties of the Council with regard t© the tip,” said Cr H. G. Warren at the Borough Council meeting last Monday evening, “but I have no hesitation in saying that the tip as it stands at present is no advertisement for this Council. Something should be done to improve it.”
The matter arose when the Health Inspector raised his usual monthly complaint regarding the tip and urging that far greater control should be exercised.
The Borough Foreman said that there would be always complaints while the existing haphazard system obtained.
Cr Shapley said that he had investigated the position but unless the Council was prepared to place a man there to enforce systematic tipping there would always be trouble. A tip face was started and private people merely shot their rubbish into any convenient spot. Cr Warren suggested shortening the face by fencing off the sides. On the suggestion of the Foreman Engineer it was decided to refer the matter to the Woi’ks Committee for further investigation.
