ATTENTION . of DANCE COMMITTEES PROPRIETORS and all EMPLOYERS - is drawn to the following: That it is a breach of the N.Z. Musicians’ Award to employ any but bona-fide members of the Musicians’ Union. All charges must be made and paid in accordance with the charges laid down in the Musicians’ Award. It is the duty of all musicians’ to see that those they play with and those engaged are financial members of the Union, and can produce a membership card. All employers have a liability to ascertain that only unionists are employed. Failure to do this renders them liable to prosecution under section 129 of the I.C. and A. Act. The Musicians’ Award is applicable to all performers employed to play musical instruments at public and pi’ivate dancing assemblies (see j clause 1, Musicians’ Award, 1938).
