FISHING ACTIVITIES

STOCKING OF STREAMS The report which appeared in connection with the recent meeting of anglers of the Whakatane Rod and Gun Club contained a number of references to fry and fingerlings. Certain developments and conditions which have arisen since that meeting was held now place these and several other matters discussed, in a different light. With regard to the allocation of fry to the club, it has been intimated that no actual allocation to the club itself will be made. The club will, however, assist the Department of Internal Affairs in the release of fry. Intimation has also been received that the Department will not supply fry for the raising of fingerlings.

Regarding the introduction of salmon from the South Island, the Department advises that no fry is available.
