RUGBY FOOTBALL

TOMORROW’S CHALLENGE GAME HURUNUI-APANUI SHIELD The most important Rugby fixture of- the season as far as Whakatane is concerned takes place at Opotiki tomorrow when the local challenge game for the coveted Hurunui-Apanui Shield will take place. Whakatane’s chances have been described as fair, but from weather indications the ground promises to be wet and muddy after the consistent rain and a gruelling forward match often produces surprising results. Whatever the outcome town and district have full faith in the fifteen going forward to represent it, and Rugby fans will be fully satisfied if they play a clean, spoiling game irrespective of what the outcome may be.
