Gumboots From Hutt Factory

Rubber Distributors Ltd., have let a contract for the building of a new factory on a site about three acres at Gracefield, Lower Hutt. The existing factory site in Te Puni Street would not permit of extension. The new building will have 50,000 feet of floor space, and will house all the company's operations, with room for expansion. Building will begin at once, and the plant, delivery of which has been slow, is expected before the end of the year. The works will employ about 150 hands, and will be devoted to the production first of gumboots, with possible extension to goloshes and sand shoes.
