RED CROSS ACTIVITIES
JULY MEETING HELD WORK OF RELIEF - The monthly meeting was held in the Red Cross rooms on Tuesday, July 9, at 2 p.m. Mrs Sullivan, the president, reported that the sewing during June for overseas relief had been very successful, and the work beautifully done. Mrs James had offered to do the packing. The Y.A.s had had regular sewing meetings and contributed a number of articles. In view of the great need still for clothing for overseas it was decided to keep the rooms open every Tuesday from 1-4 p.m. for sewing and general Red Cross business. One Tuesday would be occupied with the monthly meeting, but sewing could take place at the same time. A large case of factory pieces had been donated, and would supply material for a considerable number of garments.
The public is asked to note that the Red Cross rooms are now the depot for clothing donated for relief, and persons having articles are asked to leave them,„ if possible, when the rooms are open on Tuesdays. It was decided to hold a street stall on Friday, August 9 as a finale to the appeal for Food for Britain, and for Red Cross General Purposes Fund. The committee will be grateful for donations of goods and produce, and the support of the public. The next monthly meeting will be on Tuesday, August 6, in the Red Cross. Rooms.
