SITUATIONS VACANT STATE FOREST SERVICE EMPLOYMENT, WITH PROSPECTS. IN FORESTRY Men of good physique, preferably ex-servicemen, desiring an open air life, and possessing the qualities of leadership, energy and integrity, are urgently required by the State Forest Service for training in Leading Hands duties. Recruitment is on a selective basis and men with a rural background will be given preference. The commencing wage is 21/- plus 2/- cost of living allowance per day; the guaranteed minimum wage applies to all forestry activities and employees are assured of no time. Selected applicants will be given varied field experience in forest work for a preliminary training period of 3 to 6 months; those showing sufficient aptitude will then be offered a short course of instruction, satisfactory progress in which will result in imediate promotion to Leading Hand status on a wage of 24/- plus 2/- cost of living per day. Leading Hands are required principally in connection with the establishment and development of afforestation schemes involving big employment of labour and there are opportunities for advancement for Leading Hands with ambition and the necessary educational qualifications.
