Will Make the Pace
The Autopay—Miss Vera gelding, Autoscore, is now among the hurdlers, and is to compete over the sticks at New Plymouth. He is confidently expected to make good in the new department.
Requires More Practice At the Te Rapa tracks Reorapa is negotiating the battens in fine style. With the colours up at the Waikato meeting he showed pace and jumping ability in the early stages, but soon tired out of the contest. In due course he is likely to make good as a hurdler.
“Had No Mouth” In referring to a Trentham trained candidate that had been returned to his owner, a Southern writer stated: “He had no mouth and would not answer the helm.”
Improving Week by Week The Battle Song—Alma gelding, Batal, winner of the Franklin Handicap, has since been galloping freely in his Takanini work. In his spring engagements he should be very prominent.
The Winter Cup The grey gelding, Findon, is to compete in the C.J.C. Winter Cup, a race in which his improved racing condition should ensure him being right in the fight. A Successful Year
On last year’s operations the Avondale Jockey Club, after making full provision for taxation made a nett profit of £8660. For its spring meeting in September the club will revert to its own course at Avondale.
