POWER SHORTAGE
FURTHER WARNING RECEIVED POSSIBLE DAILY SHUT-DOWN The attention of all readers is drawn to an advertisement in this issue increasing the existing nightly shut-down of electricity by a half hour. Further, that unless the greatest possible care is taken by ail users, that a daily shut-down of an hour will be necessary in the midafternoon. It is most urgently hoped that the latter course will not be necessary but under instructions from the Power Supply Authorities, this will be done if the Borough quota is exceeded by too great a margin. The present dire shortage is due to a number of causes chief among which are the dry weather conditions throughout the Waikato and Bay of Plenty areas, and the Do-minion-wide coal shortage. Every endeavour is being made to build up the latter commodity but in the meantime householders are given fair warning and in the interests of the whole community are asked to exercise the greatest possible care.
