The bpposing quarter was a battleground for the next few minutes till suddenly Sisam, spotting a gap in the opposing defence, gathered in and, crossed to touch down behind the jpost. Semmens’ kick was sound and Taneatua had 5 points on the board. But Paroa came back swiftly, and after edging their way upfield sent Harawira over from a line out, notching 3 points. WAIHAKA v RUATOKI HOME TEAM’S WIN Wairaka and Ruatoki played . a very mediocre game at the Whakatane Domain on Saturday the match ending Wairaka 13, Ruatoki 0. The better part of the match consisted of a series of loose, haphazard moves, although on several occasions Wairaka showed flashes of really good football. The first try came in the second half when Merito ambled after the ball which had been kicked over the line, and unhindered, downed it at leisure. Lawson converted. A few minutes later, M. Bluett crossed and H. Bluett’s conversion brought Wairaka’s points to 10. In the final stages, both sides woke up a little, and the standard of football improved. Right on time Lawson gathered in and from halfway 'made a brilliant run right down the side-line, beating four Ruatoki men, to score in the corner. The kick was short and the final whistle declared time, with the score Wairaka 13, Ruatoki 0. Mr J. Whitehead refereed.
