BRITISH MOTOR INDUSTRY
Word has been received from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Trades Limited, London, that the Motor Show that was to be held in October of this year has now been postponed until 1947. Because of the intensive efforts required to promote Britain’s exports and because the British motor industry provides a very big proportion of Britain’s export business, it is felt that anything which may tend to divert the efforts required in this direction should be deferred. Full production on present models will be maintained, although it must be understood that developments and improvements will naturally continue to be effected.
This year celebrates the jubilee of the British motor industry and there will be certain arrangements made in this connection. The part that the industry has played in two two Great World Wars will obviously be featured, and it will be of great interest to trace the development of an industry that was first marked by the enthusiasm of the London to Brighton motor race in '1896. Some of the original “old-tim-ers” which took part in this race are stili available for active exhibition.
