LONG WAY FROM HOME

WANDERING LOCAL DOG IN AUCKLAND

An unusual letter has reached the Editor concerning a dog bearing a Whakatane collar which has been discovered at Mission Bay, Auckland, by two elderly ladies, who write in an effort to discover the whereabouts of the local owner. The letter reads: ‘We have a dog here which has been about the roads, and doesn’t seem to have a home. He has made friends with us and we have been feeding him. On examination we discover in printed letters “Baby Dog”, Whakatane. The dog has a short tail, and is grey and white in colour. Standing high, it is either a cattle or a sheep dog. As we are just two old ladies living together, and have our cats to feed, we do not want a dog, but just feel that we must every hungry animal that comes along. We would be pleased, if you would try to.find the owner for us before we get too fond of it. We are quite willing to pay for an advertisement, if you will do the rest.’

As we have no intention of charging our inquiries for the above, we now publish the address concerned, and would ask any person able to throw light upon the ownership of the animal, to communicate with Mrs V S: MacDonald, 82 Pattison Avenue, Mission Bay, Auckland.
