INSPECTOR'S REPORT
PONGAKAWA RABBIT BOARD At the last meeting of the Pongakawa Rabbit Board, the Inspector, Mr C. H. Davis, reported that during the month, work in connection with the destruction of rabbits Vhad been carried out on a number of private properties, and Crown and Native land. 12,300 acres, he said, had been poisoned, and 13,900 acres fumigated. Results had been fair to good. Tfae report concluded as undenWf "On properties where there has been heavy shooting it is almost impossible to get rabbits to take the poison. In the Manawahe area there is far to much shooting and indiscriminate shooting in paddocks where the" men are working is "becoming a menace. v S "As we have had a good clean ;up* on the upper Tarawera and Ruawahia country, I think it advisable to leave this area till next summer, as in winter there is far too much time lost through wet weather on this job, which is purely a poisoning one." .'..-':
