WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

OTAKIRI MEETING The Otakiri Women’s Institute held its June meeting at I?he Otakiri Hall recently. A good attendance of members was present, Mrs Armstrong presiding. Business: The remits to the Wellington Conference were dealt with and delegates advised as to voting. Mrs Armstrong then gave the rules, aims and the responsibilities of the Institute for the benefit of new members. Mrs Peck as delegate to the Annual Council Meeting, gave a very comprehensive account of the meeting. Demonstration for the day was a mop made from used wool on a specially made head which was very wel demonstrated by Mrs Peck. Competitions for the day were as follows: A, Gloves hand-knitted on two needles, Miss J. Murray 1; Mrs Cristall 2; Mrs Missen 3. B, Pikelets, Mrs Armstrong 1; Mrs Mackrell 2; Mrs Irving 3. C, Bowl of violets, Mrs Peck 1; Mrs Cobden 2 Mrs Lord 3. Best single flower, Mrs Peck 1; Mrs Lord 2; Mrs Hutton 3. Best double flower, Mrs Cobden 1; Mrs Missen 2; Mrs Dunning 3. Best vegetable, Mrs Armstrong 1; Mrs Gilbert 2; Mrs Peck 3.
