A Question of Policy The question of purchasing a new mat for the entrance of the Nurses’ Home gave rise to some interesting comment at the June meeting of the Whakatane Hospital Board yesterday The chairman, Mr J. Mullins, said that the matter had received strong recommendation from the Matron who claimed that by smart- S

ening up the Home nurses would be encouraged to stay at the institution. Mr Burt replied that the Board generally realised the desirability of spending money on making the home more attractive. He would be prepared to vote money in this direction but not until the Government had finalised its attitude towards hospital rating and expenditure generally. He thought it far wiser to hold this item over. On the motion of Mr Mitchell it was decided to hold the matter over meanwhile.
