LABOUR PARTY
WHAKATANE BRANCH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING . The _annual general meeting of the Whakatane Branch of the New Zealand Labour Party was held in the Caledonian Hall on June 3, a large attendance of members and supporters being present. Mr Raymond Boord, political organiser for the Bay of Plenty Electorate, who was present addressed the gathering in a very effective manner outlining the legislation passed in the 10 years of the Labour Government’s occupancy of the Treasury benches. Owing to the large number of new members enrolled, it was decided to reorganise the local branch of the party. The following officers were elected:— President: Mr R. Riddell. Vice-president: Mr J. Bowering. Secretary: Mr V. J. Allen. Treasurer: Mr R. S. Buttermore. Committee: Messrs. A. J. Fitzgerald, R. C. Kelly, A. L. Kilgour, M. Finucane and J. Ditchfield. A strong Social Committee was also formed.
