VALEDICTORY
MR AND MRS J, PARSONS Neighbours and friends in the Awakeri district gathered at the residence of Mr A. C. Robins recently, to extend a farewell to Mr and Mrs Jack Parsons, who, after almost 18 years of continuous residence have sold their property and are leaving the district. Some fifty guests were present, and the gathering took the form of a social and card evening. As a gesture of farewell, Mrs Robins, on behalf of residents of the district, presented the guests of honour with a fruit cake and a cheque, * and extended her best wishes for their future success and happiness. Mr Parsons briefly replied, thanking those present for their best wishes and gifts, and saying that they would enjoy looking back on the many happy associations it had been their good fortune to possess in this district. A tasty supper was served, and the evening concluded with the traditional Auld Lang Sync.
