EMPLOYMENT ANALYSIS

ROTORUA-BAY OF PLENTY AREA SOME INTERESTING FIGURES The District Employment Officer, Mr J. McGlone, advised today that the work of compiling essential information from the half-yearly Returns of Employment Information was well in hand. Employers generally, he said, were proving very cooperative. Although all returns were not yet to hand, it was hoped to have the majority of them in by the end of the present month. Persons required to render infor<mation would be well advised, he continued, to complete the forms immediately they were received, and so avoid the additional work involved in going over back records. Employers would also find it greatly to their advantage if they were to extract the necessary information from their records month by month and transfer it to the appropriate section of the returns straight away. By doing this, a great amount of work would be avoided when it came to rendering the next return. All employers had been provided with a spare form for this purpose. Employment information returns would require to be furnished twice a year in April and in October. Figures covering the Rotorua-Bay of Plenty district for some industries were now finalised, some of

the summarised figures being:— Bakeries, Pastrycooks and Cake Kitchens: Total pay-roll strength 105, comprising 56 males and 49 females. Of the 56 males, 8 were under 21 years of age, and of the 49 females, 20 were under 21 years of age. Vacancies exist in this group for 3 males and 1 female. Printing, Bookbinding etc.: Total pay-roll strength 99, comprising 62 males and 37 females. Of the 62 males 9 are under 21 years of age and of the 37 females, 24 are under 21 years of age. Vacancies exist in this group for 3 males and 3 females.
