TEAMS FOR WEEKEND GAMES AT RUATOKI The following teams to play at Ruatoki on Sunday next have been selected and will leave Dillicar’s corner at 12.45 p.m.:— Men’s ieam: W. Stewart, B. Johnston, W. Crawford, W. Mokomoko, E. Johnson, R. Cox, N. Rigden, P. Wynne, P. Hammond, R. Schou, J. Griffin, I. Abbott. Ladies’ team: T. Henry, M. Kilbride, C. Windley, M. Hall, Mrs Hodges, Mrs Kilgour, P. Appleby, K. Bennett, M. Hearle, N. Anderson, Mrs Milne. EDGECUMBE CLUB REFORMS The last 2 weekends Hunter’s paddock has presented many startling surprises to the citizens of Edgecumbe. One Edgecumbe resident was heard xv say that the young folk of Edgecumbe were taking up the defence of their condemned township but on further enquiry it was discovered the blood curdling yells and clashing of sticks was caused by the enthusiastic members of the Rangitaiki Hockey Club. After lying dormant over the war years hockey has broken out again In the Rangitaiki. This time the club for the first time in its history proudly presents a ladies team. Under the control and coaching of Mrs Weir this team will prove a side to be reckoned with.

Arrangements are also being made for games for the younger boys on Saturday afternoons. These boys will in future years keep the sport of hockey alive in the Rangitaiki. Teams to play at Ruatoki on Sunday, May 26, leaving Edgecumbe Hotel at 12.30 p.m. sharp, will be picked from the following:— Ladies: P. Fergusson (Capt), N. Jensen, J. Bryers, B. Newdick, H. Fergusson, J. Burke, J. Graham, A. Dawson, L. Bryers, N. Huish, M. Fitzgerald, J. Adams. Men: S. Learning (Capt), K. Civil, R. McDonald, F. Pepperill, K. Colebroke, A. Crookes, R. Crosbie,. M. Williams, J. Hannah, C. Hatcher, J. Jordon, H. Stodard, R. Arrol.
