LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

MEETING OF LOCAL BRANCH Mrs Gow presided over an excellent attendance of members at the May meeting of the League of Mothers. Speaker for the day was the Rev. A. F. Attwood who gave a most inspiring address on the Home. Mr Attwood stressed that for a full and happy life the centre of all our activities should be from the home, as it was a place of permanent residence Home was the centre of our social lives and family worship. Today we had better houses but poorer homes, more pleasures but fewer joys. Many outside activities tended to drew members away from home. Children were a blessing to a home and it is deplorable the apathy some parents took instead of seizing the opportunity to guide and train the child to be a useful citizen.

Mrs Rushbrook delighted all present with her beautiful voice by singing “Hear My Prayer”'and “The Songs My Mother Sang To Me,” being ably accompanied by Mr Rushbrook.

Miss Lawes very ably spoke on Adult Education. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses and the singing of the National Anthem brought a very happy meeting to a close.
