STREET APPEAL
AIDING C.0.R.5.0. FUNDS COLLECTION ON FRIDAY The Whakatane C.0.R.5.0. branch will be holding its first public appeal on Friday next when lady - collectors will be soliciting donations on behalf of suffering humanity in less fortunate countries. than our own. The ‘man in the street’ is now definitely associating the letter;? C.0.R.5.0. with overseas relief and already street appeals have realised: Dunedin £I7OO, Christchurch £2680, Timaru £3OO, Nelson £3OO, Whangarei £2OO and Gisborne £IOOO. Whakatane will doubtless live up to its reputation for generosity. The appeal represents but one section of the local C.0.R.5.0. appeal, and the money will on the main be devoted to the N.Z. Relief teams now working in poverty-stricken Greece, where famine and disease still stalk the land.
