ORDER OF SALE Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday: Dairy Herds. Thursday: Dairy Heifers, Yearling ’ Heifers and Bulls. Friday: Horses, Pigs, Implements and Machinery. There are seven dairy herds on the Awaroa Station. Six herds comprise good quality Jersey cows bred on the property. The seventh herd was purchased last season as heifers, and comprises Jersey, Ayrshire and Jersey Ayrshire cross cattle. These herds were pastured with Stud Jersey Bulls and Stud Ayrshire Bulls as from 12th October. The rising two-year-old heifers were pastured with Stud Ayrshire Bulls as from 15th October. For many years only the best Stud Jersey Bulls drawn from the National Sales were used for maintaining the herds, and all replacements have been reared on the property. Three years ago, Stud Ayrshire Bulls were purchasedj and the rising twQand yearling heiferS comprise a proportion of the first cross.
