OPENING BAY
TE TEKO GOLF CLUB COMING SEASON’S PROSPECTS The opening day of the Te Teko Golf Club took place last Sunday, the number of players present giving indication 6f a promising season for 1946. It will be remembered that the club was formed last year. Fortunately, the weather was good, and those participating thoroughly enjoyed the day. The popularity of the sport was evidenced by the number and keenness of young players, and although the course was not in the best condition, owing to the prolonged dry spell, play generally was of a fair standard. After a few preliminary remarks, the president, Mr L. B. Smith, drove the first ball, declaring the season open. Play took the form of a mixed Canadian foursome.

Play for the next two weekends will take the form of an eclectic competition, the draw for next Sunday being as follows: Balfour and Dunning; Burr and Thomas; Hyland and Macken; Dawson and Glen; Craddock and Knight; Housham and A. P. Smith; Jensen and T. Lyons; Goodwin and K. Lyons; Haultain and Mayo; Mcßride and Orr; Moulden and Stewart; Caldwell and Latimer; Connell and Gardiner; Jaques and Sanders.
Results of the Canadian foursome played over 9 holes on Sunday were: Mr and Mrs Thomas 45; Mrs Balfour and Mr J. Caldwell 51.
Players are requested to advise their partners immediately in the event of their being unable to be present.
