CREAM RATIONING
INCREASING BUTTER EXPORTS With the object of curbing illegal sales of cream and so providing more butter for export, cream has now been declared a rationed commodity. The Cream Rationing Order, 1946, provides for the registration of consumers and the licensing of retailers. It stipulates that every retailer must keep in his shop or carry on his delivery vehicle a register containing the names of all his cream customers. It is now illegal for any person to sell cream without a licence, and those engaged in the trade are advised to make application for their licences to their local rationing officer. Supplying dairies are notified that, in future, no cream may be supplied to retailers without a permit, and are advised to communicate with their local rationing officers to ascertain their obligations under the Order. * Consumers who are holders of cream permits are not affected by the new measures. All they have to do is to make a note of the expiry date and hand the permit over to their ordinary supplier.
