UNCALLED FOR!

SUMPTUOUS SUPPERS AND DINNERS VOICE OF C.0.R.5.0. The following decision was arrived at, at last Monday’s meeting of the ‘Foodstuffs’ Sub-Com-mittee of the Whakatane branch of Corso—‘That this meeting deplores the wastage of vital foodstuffs at lavish suppers, socials and dinners which are held habitually in this district at the present time When millions are on the verge of starvation on the other side of the world, and that it appeals to the officers of all right thinking organisations to keep food at such gatherings down to the plainest fare in order that vital sugars and fats could be conserved.’ Weddings were regarded as an exception. A copy of this motion will be forwarded to the Chamber of Commerce.
