PLUNKET SOCIETY

MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Whakatane Branch of the Plunket Society took place in the Plunket Rooms recently. Present were Mesdames Cairns (chair), Roach, Pat-ter-son, Morgan, Zind-', /pring, Morpeth and Caisley (secretary). Apologies were received from Mesdames King, Timbs, Shapley, Dainton, Kingsley-Smith and Knights.

A number of accounts were passed for payment. The Nurse’s report was held over until May 6. A letter was received from the Rangitaiki sub-branch requesting that the Nurse visit that district weekly. This request, it was shown, could not be granted, owing to the short working weekend, and also the scattered nature of the district, two factors which served to keep the* Nurse fully occupied. The letter, however, has been referred to the Dunedin Head Office for advice.

The Garden Party held at Mrs Knight’s residence recently was an unqualified success, the net proceeds amounting to £24 15s 6d. The next meeting will be held on Monday, May 6 at 2.30 p.m. and until August 5, all meetings will take place in the afternoon. The usual vote of to the chair closed the meeting.
