ANNUAL MEETING HELD
The annual meeting of the Awakeri branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in
the Awakeri Hall recently, Mrs Haultain presiding over a good attendance of members. Several apologies were received. The business of the day included the election of officers for the coming year. Mrs Haultain who was congratulated on her report of the year’s activities was re-elected president and there were four new members elected to the committee.
A shoulder spray competition attracted a large number of entries, and was won by Mrs Barr, with Mrs Matchitt second and Mrs D. McDonald third. Awards were made to Mrs McKenzie 1, Mrs Haultain 2, and Mrs Brizfcle 3 in the year’s points prizes. Notice' was given that Mrs Elliott, the Dominion President, would be present at the annual meeting of the Bay of Plenty Provincial, which is to be held at Awakeri on May 9. The winners of the day’s competi-
tions were as follows: Best flower, Mrs D. McDonald 1; Mrs Brizzle 2; Mrs Haultain 3. Best fruit, Mrs Wilson 1; Mrs Barr 2; Mrs McDonald 3. Best vegetable, Mrs Brizzle 1, Mrs Barr 2; Mrs McGougan 3. The meeting concluded with the Singing of the National Anthem.
