JUST THOUGHTS

History is an evidence of the necessity of thrift. All about you are men who are walking, talking, living examples of the lack of thrift.

Thrift is the one thing that imparts to the individual more independence, greater ambition, and increased courage. It makes a man a better citizen. It is self-imposed discipline, and when practised willingly, it is always practised wisely. The cost of high living is the result of so many leisure-loving parasites who play, but will not work—who know as little of thrift as a monkey knows of chess. Much of the crime in this country is the direct result of an army of people who are urged by necessity to get money in a hurry. Thrifty people are not lazy, nor are they indifferent to their own responsibilities to themselves and to other people. They save for a rainy day; and you know the barometer goes up, and everything that goes, up must come down.

Thrifty people are'in a class by themselves. The only value in this article to you, can be found in the answer to this question: Are you thrifty? To be thrifty is to possess the ability to thrive in growing, that is to grow prosperously with respect to all life. We may be thrifty in temporal affairs by giving diligent attention to our job, or workaday life. We may thrive in our spiritual life by fulfilling the advice “Do justly, love mercy, walk humbly,” “Be diligent in business, fervent in spirit Serving God.” Any man, every man may enjoy all the blessings that God sends upon those who. are truely thrifty; this fact can be proven in your own life. Try it out, if you would enjoy life to the full.
