Dear Sir
Letters to the Editor must be clearly written on one side of the paper only and where a nom-de-plume is used the name of the writer must be included for reference purposes. The Editor reserves the right to amend or withhold any letter or letters.
RADIO FOR ALL Sir, —-The elections are in the fore~ front and our members are getting busy on the warpath; therefore we must not forget the treatment that the public got at the last Elections; being debarred from their fair rights of speech over the air. Whilst the people are being frustrated and bombarded with Governmental propaganda, they should have the right to reply over the radio network, having paid for the same. The rights of the people should be demanded forthwith, through our Member. This should not be left too late, and pressure should be brought to bear by all subscribers to radio and electors in general! Yours etc., RADIO SUBSCRIBER.
THE TIDES Sir, —Some weeks ago I was very pleased to notice that you published a schedule of the tides for the Whakatane river and I thought at the time what an asset it was to the boating section of your readers. I was a little surprised when it was not continued but assumed it was due to lack of space or you had tried it to see if your action was appreciated by the public. Now that the paper is published three times per week I thought perhaps it may once again appear in your columns.
On behalf of several other boating enthusiasts who spend quite a lot of leisure hours on the river a regular publication of the tides and any other interesting information concerning the river etc* would be very much appreciated. We can also provide information in connection with the river which we have taken note'of during the past three years, or to benefit other readers who may be interested. By that I mean distances between points, one way and another, depth of water at various points at low tide etc. Yours etc., “SAILS.” (We thank our correspondent for his letter and have to state in reply that only lack of adequate space has forced us to hold the tide-table over. As soon as the pressure has lifted we hope to maintain this information permanently for the benefit of our readers. Ed.)
