Plunket Society Donation

The Whakatane County Council has made its usual donation to the local branch of the N.Z. Plunket Society of £2 2s. Awakeri Young Farmers’ Club At a meeting in the Awakeri Hall last Wednesday evening a Young Farmers’ Club was formed. A measure of the enthusiasm for the movement by young and older farmers of other districts was evidenced by the attendance of representatives of other clubs and the functions some of them had missed by coming to this meeting. They also spoke enthusiastically of the benefits of the movement and although the attendance by local young farmers was disappointing in view of the potentialities of the district, sufficient numbers were present to form a club. Additional membership will be necessary, however, before it can become strong, and the attention of intending members and those interested is drawn to an advertisement of the next meeting of this club appearing elsewhere in this issue.
