SECRETARY’S SALARY
HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION CHAIRMAN’S EXPLANATION We have been asked by the Chairman of the Bay of Plenty Hospital Board to amplify our report of the last meeting of the Board relative to the decision of the Board to increase the secretary’s salary to £BOO. That amount is not being paid solely for the services of the secretary himself. Out of that he pays for the ..services of two assistant clerks who are engaged on the Board’s work. The amount also covers office rent, telephones, lighting and equipment. The secretary himself spends practically the whole of his time in the Board’s work. The amount now. being paid by the Board is considerably less than amounts being paid by other Boards of the same size for their secretarial work. The Board came to its decision only after studying the fullest facts and information including consideration of the estabishment of office .accommodation , at the. hospital.
