Champagne Stakes The Great Northern Champagne Stakes should be. a most interesting event for among the entrants are previous winners in Majesty, Regal Praise, Knight Templar, Hiranji, Jon Rosa, Gavinmor, Sweet Girl, Beau le Havre and Zealander. A very fast six furlongs should be run.
Awapuni Jumpers
Evidently the Awapuni trainers intend to make a bold bid for the Brighton Hurdles at Easter for their entrants include the proved jumpers Mynet, Kanui te Pai, Voltairs and Endurance. Rider for Brantome Te Awamutu’s dashing jumper with the pace on, Brantome, who is to compete in the big events of the winter season, is to be ridden by A. Jenkins, of Awapuni. Improving With Age The four year old Battle Song— Honeste gelding, Bueno, has won six races this season. Next year he will be even more seasoned, and should race well in distance events. Fred Davis’ Team At Avondale trainer Fred Davis has three members of his team executing satisfactory work. Regal Praise will be racing at Easter, while Sigma and Battle Cruiser will be ready in due course.
