TANEATUA R.S.A. APPEAL

COMPETITION RESULTS A very enjoyable and well attended dance was held in the Taneatua fall when the last of the series vhich was run in connection with ;he current R.S.A. Appeal was held. Dancers were present from all the surrounding districts and succeeded in carrying off several of the good prizes which were offering for the various competitions. The floor was exceptionally good and the supper was of the usual Taneatua home-made variety. Excellent music was provided by the Premier Dance Band with an extra by Miss Lorna Print whilst M.C. George Symmans kept proceedings moving at an excellent pace. The Fox Trot competition which attracted a large entry list was judged by popular vote, the large ‘field’ being reduced to six couples by the first vote. Mr and Mrs A. Murray of Thornton were the winning couple in the second vote.

I The final heat of the Monte Carlo competition also drew very large entries, the winners being Miss Frost and partner, The six finalists from each of the four dances then took the floor to dance off the final for the £4 cash prize which went to Mr D. Terry and Miss A. Robson of Hawera. The art union which has been run in support of Princess ' M ancy was drawn during the evening with the following results:— Ist prize of £10: Mehinini, Ruatoki North. Ticket No. 2268. 2nd prize of £3: Mr Jock Shaw, Taneatua. Ticket No 2-J9. 3rd prize of £1: Mr A. J. Rust, Awakeri. Ticket No. 2517. A competition for a prize of £1 was won by A. Fowel. The series of dances run have been most successful, and Princess Nancy’s votes will be substantially augmented as a result. The last event to be held in support of the appeal will be the card party which will take place on Thursday, April 11 when there will be supporting attractions. An enjoyable and novel evening’s entertainment is promised all those attendjng.
