WEDDING BELLS

HONEYCOMBE—RAYMOND A wedding of local interest was held recently at the Presbyterian Church, Whakatane, when Marion Dorothy, youngest daughter of Mrs M. Raymond, of Poroporo, was married to Private Enoch Vivian, third son of Mr C. and the late Mrs Honeycombe of Awakeri. The Rev. H. M. Bell officiated and Mrs Archer rendered the wedding solo “I’ll Walk Beside You.”

The bride who was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr E. Gardner, wore a graceful trained gown of white embossed satin with a sweetheart neckline and full length sleeves. Her full length embroidered tulle veil was held in place by a coronet of crocuses and she carried a bouquet of white lillies and asparagus fern. Attending as bridesmaids were Miss Maureen Gardner, niece of the bride, and Miss Mary Phillips who. were dressed alike in dainty frocks of apricot satin. Their green tulle

veils were held,rin place by a toning floral spray and they carried bouquets of pink and apricot roses. The flower girl was little Shirley Gardner, niece of the bride, who made a dainty picture in a blue satin frock with a Dolly Varden crinoline bonnet. She carried a posy of pink carnations and sweet peas. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, 2nd Lieut. C. Honeycombe, recently returned from overseas, as best man, and by Mr Ray Hewitt as groomsman. The bride and bridegroom were piped from the church by Piper Keith Fergusson. . , Following the ceremony a reception was held in the Caledonian Hall where the guests were received by the bride’s mother. The duties of toastmaster were capably fulfilled by Mr W. J. Simons.

The young couple later left by car for Auckland, the bride wearing a smart going-away frock of cinnamon panama crepe offset with gold beading and wore a beige travelling coat with brown accessories.
