WHAKATANE ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY
APTIVITIES RESUMED
The activities of the/ Whakatane Orchestral Society, which before the war claimed membership of the majority of this town’s musicians, is to be revived. -Many residents will doubtless remember the concerts, and items presented by the Society in pre-war days, under the baton of the late Mr H. Mayo, and the decision to revive its activities will be welcomed by all interested in the furtherance of music in Whakatane. Although many of its 1 members have now either been killed whilst serving overseas, have died within the past five years, or have left the district, there are still sufficient remaining to form a nucleus which will no doubt grow in time till it attains the size and standard of which the Society was well‘able to boast in pre-war days. Any person interested in linking up with the Society may contact either Mr H. Litchwark (Hannah’s Shoe Store) or Mr A. Albiston (Hamill Bros. Garage).
