RATS DESTROY PEAS

Not far from Wellington a crop of peas in a domestic garden was harvested by bush rats, states a member of the Forest and Bird Protection Society. The garden is hard up against a fine piece of bush, the rats were observed to climb up the sticks supporting the peas, fill their cheeks with peas, and make off. It would appear that they were taking the peas to their young. This bush seems to be swarming with rats.
