GYMNASIUM CLUB

1946 CLASSES COMMENCE PLANS FOR FUTURE ACTIVITIES The Whakatane Gymnasium Club, under the management of Mr P. Dixon will be resuming its activities for 1946. on Tuesday evening in the Caledonian Hall when a full muster of young enthusiasts is expected. Now widely known by reason of the many public displays at gymkhanas and dances which it has given over the past seasons, the club is looking forward to a year which should be one of marked progress. It is planned to considerably increase and extend the equipment now in use, thus catering not only for the anticipated increase in membership, but also for the more advanced students who xvish to proceed further with the work.

Classes in gymnasium include both seniors and juniors, and take place on a Tuesday evening. Juniors are instructed from 6 p.m. till 7.30 p.m., whilst seniors (those over 15 years of age) have the hall in the evening. A total of approximately 50 members attended last year, some 30 of whom were juniors, the remainder being in the senior division. The classes are attended by both boys and girls who are all. enthusiastic and keenly interested in gymnasium work, and we feel that the club is a distinct asset to the town.
