PAINFUL ACCIDENT
GUN POWDER EXPLODES \ When returning with her husband to her home in Tauranga in a large heavy duty truck loaded with posts a young married woman Mrs K. Rowsell (formerly Miss Joy Rhodes of Edgecumbe) sustained severe burns to her hands and legs when a tin of gun powder carried on the floor of the cab suddenly ignited and exploded. The accident occurred opposite the home conducted by Sister Beale of Te Puke, to where the unfortunate victim, who was unable to leave the then blazing cab because of her injuries, was carried by her husband who was also burnt about the feet. Both were later despatched by ambulance to the Tauranga Hospital where Mrs Rowsell is expected to remain at least a month. Mr Rowsell was able to go home next day. The greatest appreciation is expressed of the timely aid by Nurse Beale who did all that was humanly possible until the ambulance arrived.
