A Classy Filly
The three year old chestnut filly, Te Hinewai, who scored her first success in the Awaiti Stakes at Paeroa, was one of the most classy contestants of the 19 starters. She is well furnished, formed on galloping lines, and has a pedigree of winning strains. By the Heroic sire, Te Hero her dam Oto is by Illumination from Miss Roseland.
Has Been Disappointing Since his extremely fortunate win in the Auckland Cup Mr W. S. Goosman’s Expanse has run disappointingly. He has competed at Auckland, Franklin and Wellington meetings, and been well beaten on each occasion. Perhaps a course of schooling over the battens might tend to liven him up. ,His connections are hopeful of a return to form for there is talk of him meeting Kindergarten at Easter.
Whackie Re-purchased It is understood that Mr E. B. Rawlings, of Christchurch, who has owned Whackie for the past 12 months, has re-sold him to Mr W. J. Moodable, and the horse has again joined H. Dulieu’s team at New. Plymouth. He is to be schooled over the jumps in view of winter racing.
