POPULATION INCREASE
"FIFTH PLACE IN DOMINION WHAKATANE’S POSITION \ ■ . "Writing the Borough Council -at its meeting last Monday, the 'Government Statistician notified that the intercensal increase in the Borough was equal to 50.1 jper cent, which placed the town fifth in the Dominion by way of expansion over the past nine years. The other towns concerned were Mount Maunganui 102.2. per cent; Ho wick Town District •81.9 per cent; Lower Hutt 75.5 per cent; and Papatoetoe Town District 54.5 per cent.
