LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

WHAKATANE MEETING HELD The first meeting of the League of Mothers for 1946 was held'in the picturesque grounds at the home of Mr and Mrs C. Suckling, Goulstone Head.

Mrs W. Gow presided and opened the meeting reading the Aims and Objects of the League, the League Prayer and the Lord’s prayer. The Provincial President, Mrs W. C. Utting, was then introduced and gave an interesting talk on the foundation of the League, its rules and ideals and stressed the importance of young mothers becoming members to help them through these post-war years. Great interest was shown in the baby show. Clock golf and a treasure hunt were greatly enjoyed.

Afternoon tea was served on the lawn by members. A most enjoyable afternoon was brought to a close when Mrs Gow thanked Mrs Suckling for so generously lending her garden and all joined in singing the National Anthem.
